Maddalena Maresca, MBA, E-RYT 500 Hour Certified

Maddalena has been practicing yoga for 22 years and teaching for 6. During her undergraduate studies at Georgetown University, international MBA in Milan, and more than a decade in corporate business, yoga was (and still is) her steadfast companion.

Her first teacher from Peru introduced her to hatha yoga in the Sivananda tradition. She later studied with YogaFit founder Beth Shaw, then turned to YogaWorks completing 500 Hour Certification in 2007. Her training combined the YogaWorks method with ISHTA (Integrated Science of Hatha, Tantra and Ayurveda under the guidance of Yogiraj Alan Finger). She studies at YogaWorks and the Iyengar Institute with James Murphy, Carrie Owerko, and (formerly) Mary Dunn.

Maddalena is inspired by the profound Iyengar system. Her style brings moment-to-moment awareness through physical alignment, attention to the breath, and quieting the mind. Her passions include: anatomy (advanced musculo-skeletal anatomy and kinesiology), theater (Green Sea Theatre Company, New York) and her children. Maddalena loves the free-spirited self-expression natural to children. She encourages her students to live with all their heart.

With experience instructing students of all levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners, and a background leading various types of classes, from individual sessions to specialized workshops, she is dedicated to the practice of yoga and helping others to benefit from its transforming effects. Her specialties include: yoga for beginners, private/individualized instruction and pre and post-natal yoga.
